Meet Kevin Nielsen
Implementation strategy consultant and Idaho resident who gets results.
I am a local Treasure Valley executive with a can-do attitude and deep rooted Idaho values of hard work and resourcefulness. I bring more than 17 years of industry experience crossing every aspect of business assessment and execution. My project teams in the past 5 years have achieved more than $55 Million in savings to corporations and customers here in Idaho.
My passion is looking for ways to help Idaho companies thrive and grow. I develop data-driven strategies with measurable outcomes in every effort I lead by leveraging my mechanical and aerospace engineering degree from Utah State University, a Lean Six Sigma Blackbelt, and an MBA from Northwest Nazarene University. I thrive on turning the innately complex into understandable and business-relevant information. No matter the barrier, I always find a path forward to achieve the goal and enjoy the challenge of mentoring and helping your teams do the same.
Kevin's Background & Experience
I began my career in process improvement and functional department assessments. As a Shingo Prize for Operational Excellence examiner, I assessed several businesses throughout North America. In my day to day work I ran projects analyzing departments across the business spectrum including IT, transactional and customer service units, medical professionals, finance, legal and contracts, manufacturing, sales, and logistics to optimize business outcomes and reporting. I pull from a wide toolkit of Lean, Six Sigma, Total Quality Management, and Agile. Leveraging this background has allowed me to move from the manufacturing floor into software deployments, healthcare, and every back office function imaginable. Major work experience :
- Led more than 45 enterprise projects across IT, finance, operations, sales, marketing, procurement, and clinical teams always meeting and frequently exceeding business goals.
- Helped 3 separate Raytheon manufacturing facilities win the Shingo Prize for Operational Excellence.
- Part of a team that implemented SAP software at manufacturing facility replacing 88 legacy systems. Developed key functionality, work instructions, and change management for several functional areas as a cross-functional business process expert.
- Assessed business architecture and restructured the following business units to meet executive sponsor needs: existing claims department, supply chain, customer service, client contract fulfillment, sales commissions, nursing and clinical staff, reporting and analytics.
- Analyzed and planned for in-sourcing an entire product line that was previously outsourced
- Identified, negotiated, procured, and outsourced services with several vendor partners to gain new and improved functionality to lead the market
- Prepared for and implemented an entire new line of business including operations, customer service, field operators, sales, IT, reporting, and compliance functions.
- Created and launched a new method to pay doctors and health systems based on the value of keeping people healthy rather than for delivering care to patients as a fee for each service.
- Implemented a robust data integration with key suppliers with proper data controls and robust data dictionaries.
- Sales engineer to top 10 insurance clients helping them maximize their investments in the healthcare solutions tailored to their populations.
- Created operating dashboard for claims, customer service, sales, healthcare economics, and IT leadership to manage and optimize their operations.
- Led 80 hourly employees through a surge in transactions due to new government regulations and helped them visualize and manage all of their work queues to maximize throughput.
- Oversaw a portfolio of 55 healthcare solutions and created the metrics to identify and track the ROI, total savings and opportunities to improve each solution.
- Performed several business capability assessments to identify business strengths, gaps and needed investments to meet enterprise strategy targets.
